Recently, the list of social networking sites has grown long. In the early days, there were only a few dominant sites like Myspace and Facebook. Now, we have huge directories of social networking communities that try to keep up with the massive growth of this new Internet community type. Sites like Squidoo and Mashable join oldtimers such as Slashdot.
What is it (Social networking) and why should you care? The world is one gigantic network. In business, money is earned, all trade is accomplished, and deals are done because of WHO you know, and not so much what you know. With the extensive reach of the Internet, it was a forgone conclusion that site architectures in support of advanced networking would arrive on the scene sooner or later. While there is some blatant marketing allowed, the real benefit to belonging to a social networking site is in meeting more people in your industry or niche.
